That Said it is interesting to note how many sites collect loads of personal information about us. Our digital identities are all around us in the forms we fill out, the accounts we create, and the sites we visit. Many sites leave digital tracking devices such as cookies (not all cookies are bad) or Web bugs (most web bugs are bad). These items seek to uniquely identify us when we return to the site. Many modern browser and third party add on tools allow us to moderate the use of Cookies on our system, but since Web Bugs are simply a Web graphic they are a bit more difficult to stop. The use of personal proxy software such as, http://www.WebWasher.com provides additional controls for these types of tracking tools, as well as Pop Ups and Ads. Although not 100% effective it definitely reduces clutter in the browser window. We have come to expect intrusive walk over ads on sites and other advertising gimmicks to power a mostly free Internet. Many people pay little more than their ISP to have access to large volumes of information through excellent search engines like http://www.google.com So get out and surf, but remember to be careful who you provide your information to and that you trust they will not abuse it.
